Even though the men's swimming and diving team finished fourth in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, freshman Matt Mintz made certain the 'Hawks left with some hardware.

In the opening event on the final day of competition at UW-Oshkosh's Albee Hall, Mintz survived a 20 man field in the 1650 yard freestyle to win UW-Whitewater's first individual conference championship since 2005.

Senior captain Kyle Boers finished his final conference meet with another record setting weekend. He tied his school record on the 3-meter dive with a second place score of 451.5. He also registered third place in the 1-meter dive.

Despite the fact No. 12 UW-Stevens Point won the meet for the ninth consecutive year, the 'Hawks tallied twenty season-best times.

Other top performers included senior John Sedgwick, who captured third and sixth place, respectively, in the 200 and 100-yard butterfly events.

With the conclusion of the conference meet, the 'Hawks lose seniors Sedgwick, Jeff Bridwell and Dan Burger to graduation. Fellow senior Boers will also depart after competing in the Division III national championships March 20-22.
