"We open doors to a lot of dancers that are from studios in high school," said Dance Company President Colleen King. "They don't have the same experience in college; they don't have enough time. We help people to continue dancing with few time constraints and add to the community."
Dance Company Vice President Stephanie Heine said the styles of dance chosen are determined by tally, making sure everyone says what style they want to dance. The organization is purely voluntary, only requiring a small member fee to help raise money for tuition.
Dance Company has meetings every week on Monday night and multiple workshops to learn different styles. Since a show is just around the corner, the organization is practicing harder with extended rehearsals.
Dance Company takes part in many different perfomances. The Emerging Choreographers Concert is a special event that Dance Company takes part in. ECC allows anyone to choreograph what they like and show it to the students. The show and events are fully student-run.
King said dance is the art of motion and expression.
"People need to try new things; it will be fabulous," King said.
