University should be involved in off-campus affairs

As a student and member of the University community for the past three years, I am outraged to learn that WSG senators are trying to push legislation that would protect "sellers, distributors, and facilitators" of underage parties from being punished under University conduct.
Believe it or not, the university itself is the reason that students rent houses in Whitewater or host parties for underage students. Therefore the University and its conduct system both play an integral part in protecting its students from harm. Such is the case in underage drinking. Yes, certain risks are involved when going out on a Thursday night when you are underage. However, those that have chosen to host the party are the reasons that anyone goes out at all. Therefore, they must be punished by the university as well, and hopefully to the full extent.
The students that host the party are the risk as well. By letting them off and protecting them under this new legislation, they are simply going to turn around again and host another underage party the following Thursday. There must be ramifications in the matter, especially when it comes to university conduct for all parties involved - not just the persons that attended the party.
If there was no party, no one would have even gone.
