Six forced turnovers and two record-breaking touchdown runs by running back Justin Beaver carried the Warhawk football team to a 21-7 win over the UW-Platteville Pioneers Saturday in Perkins Stadium.
Beaver's two scores were Nos. 37 and 38 of his career as a Warhawk, and propelled him ahead of former UW-Whitewater running back Chad Wurth for first all-time in school history in rushing touchdowns.
"Coming into [the game], my grandma told me on the field that I'd better get two touchdowns to break the record, so I had to," Beaver said.
Neil Mrkvicka also added a touchdown for the 'Hawks with a 24-yard catch in the final minute of the first half.
UW-Whitewater now moves on to the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III playoffs, which begin next Saturday. The 'Hawks will find out its seed in the postseason Sunday, when the entire 32-team bracket is announced. The Division III playoff selection show can be seen on ESPNU at 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
