Tips to keep your heating bills low

As temperatures begin to plummet and the cold Wisconsin winter is just a few weeks away, off-campus students will soon realize how much they took for granted the comfortable, free-flowing heat in the residence halls. The reality of paying bills in an off-campus house or apartment usually doesn't hit students until December, when the temperatures hover in the single digits and there is no choice but to turn the thermostat up.

The UW-Whitewater physics department is celebrating the International Year of Astronomy 2009 with a lecture series and exhibits. "Astronomy is neat," Physics Department Chair Steven Sahyun said. "We hope to share our knowledge with the rest of the university and the community.

UW-Whitewater students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a variety of cultures during International Education Week, Nov. 9-13. International Education Week is a national event celebrated throughout the year on various college campuses. The event encourages people to experience different cultures through activities, lectures and presentations on-campus.
