Purple Raiders hold off late rally to claim 10th national title

It's often said the finish is more important than the start, but the Warhawks began Saturday's Stagg Bowl XXXVI in too deep a hole to overcome. The 'Hawks were defeated in the Division III national championship game in Salem, Va., 31-26, by the Mount Union (Ohio) Purple Raiders.

661 students honored at Kachel Fieldhouse

Proud, accomplished, relieved, excited and a little bit sad are all emotions invading the lives of 661 former UW-Whitewater students. A crowd filled the Kachel Fieldhouse Dec. 20 for the winter commencement of the class of 2008. Following the procession of students, faculty and staff, junior Michael Roemer sang the national anthem to a mass of cap-less students.

Alumnus to give keynote speech during graduation

Eric Lund, an alumnus of UW-Whitewater, will be the keynote speaker at the Winter Commencement Ceremony Dec. 20 in the Kachel Fieldhouse.

Lund graduated in December 1991 with a bachelor's degree in public policy administration. He co-founded a hospitality development and management business called Stark and Lund Hospitality four years later.
