A recent UW-Whitewater graduate in a wheelchair was hit by a car on Aug. 26 on Main Street near the Alumni Center.
The victim was transported to the Fort Atkinson Hospital for severe injuries and later med-flighted to University Hospital in Madison.
John McCain and Sarah Palin made their first official campaign stop in Cedarburg, Wis. Friday morning. The two made the trip from the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis where Palin was officially made the vice presidential candidate.

Recent UW-Whitewater graduate Mike Chaloupka, 23, has died, according to authorities. Chaloupka, who was in a wheelchair, was struck by a car Aug. 26 while crossing the Whiton and Main streets intersection.
"It's a tragedy. We're very upset that this happened in our community. We want to address those locations," Whitewater City Manager Kevin Brunner said Tuesday.
