Alumni visiting this campus for the first time in a decade or later will notice many new things including a vast University Center and a new College of Business and Economics building, but they will also see things that are missing. It's something simple, but it is disappearing nonetheless: grass.
Every time I catch wind of another celebrity couple tying the knot, I picture myself in loge seating with a large foam finger cheering on the home team. Immediately, stars fast forward to the bottom of the ninth inning, and as per America's favorite past time, we only allow three strikes to the players. The odds are against them and they need the support of the fans to knock it out of the park.
Cell phones have become a necessity with most college students and many of us can't see life without them. We're not just calling people anymore though as text messaging has become a new medium of communication.
Winter is finally a thing of the past, and not a moment too soon if you ask me. This last season has put many of us into a solid winter depression, I seriously thought about head-butting someone at Wal-Mart last December, with more snow than I can remember in my entire life, but it's finally over. Bring on the sun and the great outdoors.
Whatever happened to the good-old days when people dared not speak in libraries, or if they did, whispered? The days when librarians shushed people for talking? I feel like at our library here on campus, those days are a far-off dream. I like to come to the library and read during my break between classes, but it's becoming increasingly difficult to find a quiet place to study.
