Women's basketball team defeats toughest competition of year

The fifth-ranked Warhawk women's basketball team faced its stiffest competition of the year Dec. 31 but came out victorious. UW-Whitewater defeated the Division III No.1 team, Mary Washington University, 70-67 at the Surf City Classic in Irvine, Calif. The 'Hawks were up most of the game and led by as many as 21 points with 5:45 left to play.
