'Hawks Senior forward Mary Donohoo (2) battles a UW-River Falls player Saturday. The women are looking for their third straight win today against UW-Oshkosh at 4 p.m.

The Warhawk women's soccer team aims for its third straight win today when UW-Oshkosh (5-2-2, 1-0-1 WIAC) visits Fiskum Field at 4 p.m.

After suffering through four straight shutout losses, the 'Hawks (4-5, 1-2 WIAC) broke the skid and grabbed two wins last week.

Senior forward Mary Donohoo scored the lone goal in the 37th minute in the 'Hawks 1-0 triumph over UW-River Falls on Saturday. The goal was Donohoo's team-leading eighth of the season.

"The first half went really well," Donohoo said. "We had a lot of chances. We've still got to work on finishing opportunities that we get. The second half we kind of just hung on towards the end, but a win is a win. We'd like to play at a higher level the whole game, but we did what we had to do to win."

UW-River Falls pulled off six shots on goal against the 'Hawks but couldn't get any past freshman goalie Mary Scanlin. Along with Donohoo, Scanlin was named one of UW-Whitewater's players of the week.

Looking ahead, Donohoo said the team must continue to show improvement.

"We just want to make sure we keep raising our level of play, so no matter who we play, we want to make sure we play above them," Donohoo said.

The 'Hawks also scored a come-from-behind win over Carroll College last Wednesday to snap the four-game losing streak. UW-Whitewater fell behind early when Carroll scored a goal less than a minute into the game. Carroll tacked another goal in the 27th minute to take a 2-0 lead.

The 'Hawks were able to rally, as Donohoo scored the team's first goal with less then six minutes left in the first half off an assist from senior midfielder Becky Cera.

Junior midfielder Stephanie DesJardins tied the game at the 55-minute mark, and less then two minutes later, sophomore midfielder Sara Brown scored the go-ahead goal for the 'Hawks off an assist from sophomore midfielder Holly U'ren.

"Coming back from 2-0 [and] winning 3-2 is a really good reminder that we like to win and score goals and that it feels good," Donohoo said. "That kind of put us in the right direction."

After today's game, the 'Hawks will prepare for Saturday's 2 p.m. match at UW-Eau Claire.
