This one-week break makes all the stress of the semester slow down. You stop thinking about exams, papers, grades, homework and your GPA and look forward to laying about, doing nothing. Maybe you'll go see friends or go on vacation somewhere warm and sunny with no snow in sight.
Sadly, a sunny paradise isn't the reality for many college students. Most of them are too broke to afford the extravagance that MTV's Spring Break shows, but finding something to do at your home isn't hard either. Part of the fun of spring break is simply getting to go home and see your friends and family.
This time at home offers the perfect relief from the stresses of school and work. Some people only want to see their families, and that will keep them entertained and happy for their 11 days of freedom.
For those of us going home, the Royal Purple has devised a list of things you can do to stay entertained.
Go to a movie
Tons of movies have been recently released both in theatres and on DVD. "No Country for Old Men" and "Hitman" were both released on DVD last week, and plenty of movies are coming to theatres in the next few weeks. The new Owen Wilson comedy "Drillbit Taylor" will hit theatres March 21, and the anticipated "21", about the Massachusetts Institute of Technology students who cheated the card games of Las Vegas, will be released in theatres March 28.
Enjoy the weather
The entirety of spring break has been forecasted to be in the high 40's throughout the week, meaning that no one will have any real reason to say inside. Go outside with your friends or take your dog for a walk around the block. Definitely don't spend your time sitting in your home watching TV and playing video games. That's what we all do while we're here at school, but vacation means going out and enjoying your free time. Spring is finally here, so get outside and enjoy the warmer weather.
Party
Now, while this is a pretty obvious idea, you don't have to party in the way that everyone thinks. Have a barbecue in a park with your friends. Everyone loves to go to a good cookout and just enjoy the weather and the food. You can organize something like this in one day and have everyone bring something to share. You can have your own potluck barbecue. It's a cheap, easy way to pass the time, plus you'll get some great food.
Exercise
While you're outside enjoying the wonderful weather, try something new. Go for a run or a bike with friends. You can catch up on what's been going on in your lives while you jog a few miles. Even walking your dog will burn calories, keep you entertained and make your dog happy.
Whatever you choose to do over your spring break, remember to enjoy your time at home before coming back to school.
