Men's basketball team looks to reload after many departures

More than 70 percent of its scoring is gone.

All five of its starters from last year's NCAA second round tournament game against eventual national champion, Washington University, are gone.

And the team no longer has the luxury of letting Myles McKay, now playing in the Czech Republic and Matt Goodwin, a former All-American, run the offense like they did the last two years.

Football team begins playoff run Saturday

After defeating UW-La Crosse Saturday, the football team secured a No. 1 seed in its Regional in the NCAA Division III football tournament, which begins Saturday at noon at Perkins Stadium.

When the NCAA released the playoff bracket Sunday afternoon, the Warhawks (10-0) learned their first round opponent would be Lakeland College from Sheboygan, Wis.

Rugby team wins Midwest title

Their first trip in club history to the Midwest Final Four could not have gone any better.

The men's club rugby team outlasted its two opponents last weekend in Elkhart, Ind., to claim the Midwest championship.

After surviving the 16-team field, UW-Whitewater (8-1) advances to the national tournament, which takes place in the spring.

Wrestlers open season against nation's best

The wrestling team is back on track as a WIAC?powerhouse and has national championship aspirations.

The 'Hawks are coming off a strong season last year when they finished 16-3-1 in dual meets, 12-0-1 against Division III opponents, and 5-0-1 in the WIAC.

This year's team, however, will be missing two All-Americans from last year's team in Pat Nagel and Karl Voeck.

Kehoes qualifies for cross country nationals

Junior Aron Kehoe is headed to the NCAA Division III cross country National Championship after a breakout race last Saturday.

Kehoe led the Warhawks to an eighth place finish at the 39 team Midwest Regional Championship held at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wis.

Wheelchair basketball tournament comes to UW-Whitewater

The women's wheelchair basketball team opens its season against Edinboro University of Pennsylvania Friday at 3 p.m., and the men's team looks to build off of its 2-0 start Friday at 7 p.m. against the University of Illinois in the UW-Whitewater Tournament.

Soccer season comes to an end in NCAA second round

After winning eight of its last nine games, the soccer team rode a wave of momentum heading into its NCAA second round tournament game with the Dominican University Stars Sunday.

But the Warhawks finally met their match and were eliminated by the Stars, 1-0.

Volleyball team falls in opening round of NCAA tournament

A strong regular season for the volleyball team came to an abrupt end in the first round of the NCAA tournament with a loss to St. Thomas.

The seventh-ranked Warhawks, who were coming off a WIAC tournament championship, lost to the fourteenth-ranked Tommies, 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-17).

Bowling team enjoys early season success

The men's club bowling team built upon its success this season in its come-from-behind win over the University of Nebraska-Omaha in the Minnesota Invite Saturday and Sunday in Minneapolis.

The team, ranked 24th in the country according to collegebowling.com, will compete in the Titan Invite hosted by UW-Oshkosh this weekend.
