In response to an article mentioning only two fraternities returning to campus here is the story on the third.
Ever since Lambda Chi Alpha's shut down in 2005, alumni of the former chapter have been working hard to get back on Whitewater's campus. With fresh ideas and a new set of potential members, Lambda Chi Alpha is making a comeback.
In September, Lambda Chi Alpha's national headquarters sent two of their Educational Leadership Consultants to recruit members to restart Lambda Chi Alpha. Due to limited amount of interest, and even more limited time constraints, Lambda Chi Alpha Headquarters decided to start the men out in an interest group that looks to seek colonization and ultimately chartership. Nationals left a core group of five men to recruit until their pending return to campus.
Through recruitment, the last count of members in the interest group totaled 19 men, which is a vast improvement.
Lambda Chi Alpha is known for being a Fraternity with excellent values and commitment to community service and brotherhood. The members have agreed to set a new standard, and bring back Lambda Chi Alpha's good reputation.
Lambda Chi Alpha started getting their name out by helping the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority dance-a-thon which was on October 17, 2008. The dance benefitted the Robbie Page Memorial which funds play therapy for terminally ill children. Two members of the interest group were DJs for the event and offered services for free.
We are still seeking men that share the same values that Lambda Chi Alpha believes in. Anyone interested in coming to a meeting should contact President Corey Hart at hartcn18@uww.edu or Recruitment Chairman Jeremy Collier at collierja19@uww.edu.
