They just spent how much money putting in these crosswalk signals and someone dies? Those signals are worthless. I'd say they should "address those locations." Main Street in front of the campus needs to be completely rebuilt with a grass terrace in the middle. But that would cost money and we all know that money should not be wasted on saving human life.

The problem is that there aren't any "signals", only signs. I have seen so many careless people just wizz by, and most often it comes from the inside lane where the right lane is stopped, for the pedestrian, and the inside lane can't see them so they just fly by instead of stopping. So many problems arise with this traffic, mainly the careless drivers. So, honestly, we either need to have some sort of possible barricade (like at a railroad stop) that goes down maybe every couple minutes to ensure a safe route for pedestrians, or something. Because I can also tell you that pedestrians are not always cautious and I have seen many that walk across them when cars are inches from them, expecting them to stop. *sigh* This is such a sad thing to have happened, and sadly, if something isn't changed, it won't be the last. (PS: we DEFINITELY need crossing guards for starin, possibly even main. we talked about it last year, how come it isn't happening? Make it a volunteer thing, and I'm sure there are organizations, even on campus, that would love to help ensure the safety of students and the flow of traffic. With an additional what, 1000 students? we need something to help out here, to prevent more loss of life, limb, and spirit.

This is a tragedy indeed. I know how they feel. I had a very good friend who died in a car accident two years ago. He was such an intelligent and brave man. He was just trying to cross the road. He paid no attention because the crosswalk was green.

Maybe it is a cliche, but he went to a better place. It is a time of sadness for everyone because a friend loss is hard to get by, but I went through a very similar experience. A friend of mine was killed in a car accident. It is very hard to believe that a person is gone and you can never talk to her/him again. But that was my happy thought that made go further: he went to a better place.

This is a big tragedy. A car accident is a road traffic incident which usually involves one road vehicle colliding with, either another vehicle, another road user, or a stationary roadside object, and which may result in injury or property damage, or possibly death.
