Trust. Honesty. Respect.
These are three ideals held high in the minds of many Whitewater citizens. These ideals are especially important for business owners, as they must use these philosophies to attract and retain customers.
A business owner who lacks all three of these traits is Jesse Dominguez, the owner of Bronze Body and Brew.
Not only has this man lost the trust and respect of all his clientele, but he has stolen money from them in a very pathetic manner.
On February 26, Madison Tanning Company moved into the building previously occupied by Bronze Body and Brew. Dominguez’s customers lost all of their previously purchased tanning packages for Bronze Body and Brew.
With the switch in companies, these tanning packages were rendered useless as Madison Tanning Company had no affiliation with Bronze Body and Brew.
This caused enough outrage among customers that a Facebook group was started to shed light on Dominguez’s actions. The group currently has nearly 1,000 members.
The worst part about this situation coms from the loss of funds for all involved. In fact everyone involved will now have to perform a double-take before they put their trust in a business again.
Freshman Alex DuJardin, who created the Facebook group, said, “I don’t trust any tanning company says anymore.”
She certainly shouldn’t. Dominguez has set a precedent for how all involved individuals will now approach every tanning salon they step foot in or any business for that matter. There will always be a sense of mistrust.
Not only has Dominguez ruined business for his own company, but he may have ruined it for other tanning companies in the surrounding area as well.
Despite being well within their rights to deny previously purchased tans to Bronze Body and Brew customers, it is safe to surmise their business will be damaged by the previous tanning salon.
As for Dominguez, legal action must be taken on him. This man has a long history with civil court cases. A background check of Dominguez reveals multiple theft, foreclosure of mortgage, small claims and eviction charges.
Leaving your business and stealing your customers money is not only bad business practices, but a criminal act as well.
The Better Business Bureau is aware of what happened at Bronze Body and Brew, but have not given customers an answer on whether or not they will be able to reclaim their money.
This is something that Bronze Body and Brew needs to give serious attention to. Not only were people conned out of a lot of money, but most of those who lost money were college students who don’t have the money to spare.
Predators such as Dominguez cannot be allowed to get away with their actions. Given Dominguez’s past criminal history, one can’t trust a word he says.
As for the affected customers, they need to understand that after every wrong decision, one is able to learn from his or her mistake.
Those affected by Bronze Body and Brew need to understand when something seems “too good to be true,” it just might be.
