University Center The newly-built University Center is a growing attraction for students on campus. Equipped with various dining options, an art gallery and Recreation Center, the UC is a popular place for students to enjoy entertainment right in the heart of campus.
Center of the Arts The Center of the Arts houses the Irving L.Young Auditorium and the Crossman Art Gallery, two thriving areas on campus. This semester the Young Auditorium has an eventful line-up of dance shows, Broadway performances, comedy shows and theater performances. Performances to look forward to in the coming year include Oliver!, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, The Nutcracker dance factory, a Russian National Ballet performing Sleeping Beauty, and the Broadway hit Hairspray. Tickets for all these performances can be purchased online or in person at the Center of the Arts. The Crossman Art Gallery will soon be featuring the "Women of Metal: Innovation, Connection and Education" exhibit. The exhibit will be on display from September 9 through October 18. The artwork featured is created by first and second generation women jewelers and metalsmiths who have both professional and educational relationships to metals. A panel discussion and reception will be held on Tuesday, September 9. Starting October 28, "Ruins: An Exhibition of New Video and Photography from China" will be on display until November 22. The exhibition is organized by the Institute of Visual Arts and the Peck School of Arts at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
SEAL The Student Entertainment and Awareness League consists of UW-Whitewater students dedicated to providing opportunities for students to come together and enjoy entertainment on campus. The group is made up of 12 students who put together programs for students and the Whitewater community. Recreation Center The Recreation Center, located in the University Center, is the new home to a 10-lane bowling alley and billiards room. Group rates and reservations are available, as well as specials and intramurals. For more information, contact the Rec Center at (262) 472-1164.
